National Briefing | Midwest: Ohio: Guilty Plea in Terrorism Case

A man accused of joining Al Qaeda in the early 1990s and helping teach fellow Muslim extremists to bomb American and European targets overseas pleaded guilty to planning terrorist attacks. The man, Christopher Paul, 44, left, entered a plea agreement that calls for a 20-year term. Judge Gregory L. Frost of Federal District Court in Columbus accepted the plea but said he would not give final approval to the deal until he saw the government’s presentencing report. Prosecutors say Mr. Paul, who was born and raised in Ohio, traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan beginning in 1990 to meet Qaeda members.
